BRINGING JAPAN TO A CAR SHOW
It’s not often you come across a creative with a vision as big as Jon at SaitoWorks Ltd. Jon runs the UK’s premier Japanese car lifestyle brand, and in the last two years he has commissioned us to create centrepieces for his exhibition stand at the Gravity car show at the Birmingham NEC...
In 2024 we designed and built a 5.5m wide gateway to welcome guests to the Saitoworks stand. We loved using the traditional Japanese finishing process of ‘yakisugi’ - burning the surface of the final piece to seal it.
You’d think that would be the end of Jon’s ambition, but not even close! In 2025 his vision for the show was for us to build a 3.5m tall Torii Gate - big enough to park a car in. We loved the design and construction process for this - and the challenge of making something that looked traditional but that could be dismantled for transport. The final result quite literally towered over the other exhibition stands, drawing people in. We loved it, even if it did take 6 people to stand it up! We’re so proud that what we worked on together won the Best Stand award for Gravity 2025.
"Not only are you incredible at what you do, and the creative ideas you bring to the table as well which I think is just absolutely incredible, but also, just you as a person as well - I think you're such a genuine, great guy - I think it's quite hard to find people, especially in business who I want to work with who are on that level, so kudos to you man, I really do appreciate you."
